Lindale Park - The Hidden Jewel

Lindale Park is nestled among tall oaks and countless magnolias in Houston’s near Northside Village. Sometimes called the “Hidden Jewel” of the inter-loop neighborhoods Lindale Park is just east of the Heights. One of the finest of Houston’s older neighborhoods, Lindale Park’s boundaries are Interstate 610 on the north, Moody Street on the south, Robertson Street on the east, and Fulton Street on the west.

Heavy Trash - TREE WASTE  - Friday, May 3

A reminder that May is a TREE WASTE month.

Tree Waste” is defined as “clean wood waste such as tree limbs, branches, and stumps.

NOTE that lumber, furniture, and treated wood will NOT be accepted. This is because tree waste is taken to a specific depository for mulching.

More information is available on the City of Houston's website:  http://www.houstontx.gov/solidwaste/treewaste.html

Mobility Committee Meeting - Monday, May 6, 6:45pm

The rail has prompted our community and the Lindale Park Civic Club board to rethink priorities concerning issues facing our residents.    In an effort to address these concerns in a more organized and prompt fashion we have created the LPCC Mobility Committee.  The group’s main focus is to review and act on matters such as traffic flow, proper signage  - speed limit enforcement, parking and safety related to this new phase in the Northside Villages growth.

The first official meeting of the group will be on Monday, May 6 from 6:45 pm - 8pm at the Lindale Park Clubhouse (218 Joyce).

The meetings will always be open to any and all outside guest and / or interested parties.  We will vote collectively on how often to meet/time, then we can have a standing meeting in place.  There are a lot of pieces to the pie, so it will be critical to take your part of the team participation seriously and to be sure to keep other members informed of issues and concerns.  Our first meeting may go over an hour but I would encourage us to keep it to an hour on a regular basis.

Even if you can't attend the meetings - help us track traffic issues on the 311 Call Log.  And check back often for updates from the Committee - we'e set up a new page on our website just for Mobility.  Visit it at: /lp-mobility-committee.html

Greater Houston Neighborhood Associations (GHNA) will host Misty Gunn, Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 6, at the Sandtrap Grill - across from the race track to inform all about Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT).

This presentation has something for everyone.  If your neighborhood has no CERT, hear what CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is about and how your neighborhood can participate.  Neighborhoods with a CERT will be updated as to the status of CERTs in Harris County. “Located Just east of the Heights and I-45, Lindale Park has plenty of large shade trees and 50 year old bungalows. The houses have "interesting architecture" --a key ingredient in starting a neighborhood gentrification boom, said Barbra Coffman of Coldwell Banker SwilleyHudson.”

- Houston Chronicle, 2001
